What are NTN Deep Dive Workshops*?
New Tech Network's (NTN) Deep Dive Workshops are professional learning sessions designed around common challenges that school educators experience. Onsite workshops are designed for up to six hours in duration and when delivered virtually can be divided into 2 or 3 “segments” spread over multiple days. Most schools schedule these to take place during staff development time, such as in-service or professional development days. The workshops are led by an NTN Expert Facilitator.
Option 1: Deep Dive Workshop exclusively for your school
Schedule your workshop to take place with up to 30 of your New Tech Network staff members. Participants often include administrators, teachers, instructional coaches and support staff.
Option 2: Deep Dive Network Workshop
A workshop series offered between January and May is available for educators from your school to join educators from other New Tech Network schools to provide flexible attendance options. This option also fosters for collaboration among teachers from multiple schools.
*formally known as On-Demand Workshops
What are the Deep Dive Workshop topics?
- Curriculum Mapping
Check out this link for NTN Deep Dive Workshop descriptions. If your school is in year one or year two implementing the NTN model, we highly recommend choosing the literacy and math workshops. The content in the other workshops has been developed to support schools post-implementation.
Are Deep Dive Workshops available as onsite and virtual sessions?
Yes, the workshops are available as either delivered at your school or as virtual professional learning sessions.
How do I schedule my school’s Deep Dive Workshop?
Once you select workshops, a member of the NTN Events team will email you to schedule. If you have specific dates in mind, let us know right away. You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We do our best to accommodate requested dates, and do work on a “first come, first served” basis for workshop delivery.
What is the deadline for scheduling my school’s Deep Dive Workshop?
For the current academic year, you have until December 15th to schedule your school’s Deep Dive Workshop to be delivered by June 30. After the December 15th deadline, your staff members will have the option to be able to participate in the Deep Dive Network Workshop series however, we can not guarantee that we can deliver the workshop onsite and we may need to consider alternatives.
The NTN Events team will work with you to find a scheduling solution (i.e. delivering virtually in two sessions instead of a full-day onsite session).
We recommend that your school schedules workshops as early as possible because common professional development dates fill quickly.
Who should attend my school’s Deep Dive Workshop?
This professional learning opportunity is open to any New Tech staff member and teacher from across content areas at your school site. Your workshop facilitator or your NTN School Development Coach can assist you to determine who from your teaching team would benefit from participating.
If my school has already participated in this Deep Dive Workshop, can we purchase it again?
Yes, if your school team has new members or perhaps you think it would be beneficial to participate again, we are happy to accommodate you. Please know that we do not customize these workshops, and you might want to consider another topic or contracting for a customized coaching day to meet your learning objectives.
How many people are the Deep Dive Workshops designed to accommodate?
To ensure that the workshops achieve the intended quality experience for all participants, the maximum number of participants is 30 NT school staff per workshop. With prior discussion and approval, and at NTN’s discretion, some workshops can contain up to 5 additional participants (or 35 maximum). If your school wants to include more than 35 participants, you will need to contract for an additional workshop so that we can assign two NTN facilitators. No one likes surprises; we ask that you help us honor these capacity limits and NTN reserves the right to cancel the workshop or request that some participants leave if there are more than the agreed-upon number of attendees present.
What does each participant need to attend the workshop?
- An account and ability to log into Echo
- An account and ability to log in to the NTN Help Center
- A notebook/paper to write on and a writing utensil
- Planning materials pertaining to the workshop topic (i.e. content standards, current curriculum plan, planning toolkit for an upcoming project, etc.)
Why is the NTN Deep Dive Workshop priced differently than a NTN coaching day?
Each Deep Dive Workshop has been designed and vetted by the NTN team and is fully aligned with NTN content and curriculum. Planning ahead with schools can allow for minor adjustments to meet your school’s structural and cultural dynamics.
An NTN coaching day is completely customized to your school’s particular needs and includes significant prep work and follow-up after the onsite day with your team by your NTN School Development Coach.
What does the workshop facilitator need to know ahead of the workshop?
It will be helpful for your facilitator to know the content backgrounds/roles of participating staff members. Your school context and any cultural dynamics you think helpful are always appreciated. We encourage each school leader to connect with the facilitator in the weeks prior to the workshop.
What will happen if we are not able to schedule the Deep Dive Workshop?
We want to do all that is possible to meet your school’s needs, which is why we establish deadlines and provide both school and network options during the academic year. Unfortunately, if your school does not schedule or participate in workshops offered, there are no options to carry over into the next year (after June 30).
